When you meet Dan Ohlson, you’re immediately struck by his warmth, wit, and humility. He earned a sociology degree, enjoyed a 30-year career in public service writing policies that helped others and raised a family -but the weight of his 55-year journey as a person with a spinal cord injury was one he carried alone.

That changed when he discovered the Here and Now Project—a place where his experiences were not only understood but valued, and where he found the connection he had long been missing.

Now, at 79, Dan shares his wisdom: “Life may not go as planned, but you can still choose to laugh, connect, and keep moving forward.”
